Te Poari Matua
Board of Trustees – Profiles
He uri tenei nō Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa, Ngāti Porou me Ngā Puhi Nui Tonu. I tipu mātou ko tōku whānau ki Tokoroa. Kei konei tonu mātou ko tōku whānau e noho ana.
It has been my great privilege and honour to act as a Mātua Representative and contribute to the whānau voice of our kura Board of Trustees for the past 8 years. I was the Board Chair for my first 6 years on the board and have been a board member for the past 2 years.
My youngest child attended Te Hiringa from Year 1 through to the end of Year 8, and my whānau and I are eternally grateful for the great start in her education she gained from attending Te Hiringa.
I am currently the “Tāhuhu Rangapū mō Raukawa” (CEO) and a Tokoroa Ward Councilor on the South Waikato District Council. I feel these roles support my ability to add value at the table as a Parent Representative, and vice versa. Although I no longer have tamariki attending the kura, I still have many nieces and nephews who attend the kura.
I am excited for the future of the kura with growth in both our kura teina and kura nui. As kura whānau, we are lucky to have committed kura leadership, kaiako and kaimahi.
I look forward to continuing to contribute to our kura and kura whānau.
Neirā kā mihi.

I am excited to be able to support our kura hāpori as a board member and I appreciate the opportunity to be a parent representative on our Board of Trustees.
I truly believe that our tamariki deserve the very best, and I would love to help and contribute in creating a safe, respectful, and happy learning environment for our babies. “Poipoia te kākano kia puāwai”.

I am currently working as a kaiako down the road at Tainui Full Primary School whilst also completing my studies with The University of Waikato with only one year left to go.
I am excited to be a part of our Te Hiringa whānau and am grateful to have the opportunity to be a parent representative within our Poari Matua. I look forward to helping our kura grow and being more involved.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the board for recently welcoming me and giving me the
opportunity to serve. I wouldn’t be a familiar face amongst you all, but slowly I will make my
way around through this position and my day-to-day position. I work in transitional housing
for Te Ope Whakaora, supporting whānau in our community with the goal of permanent
housing and opportunities for growth. I look forward to meeting the many faces associated
with this kura/hapori and seeing how I can assist our kura moving forward.
Kia ora mai tātou katoa,
He uri āu nō Ngati Porou ki te Tairawhiti, me te Hauraki, ko Harataunga. No Ngati Kahungungu ki te Wairoa, No Te Arawa hoki.
I timata ai au i te whakaako tamariki i te tau 2015 i te kura Strathmore Primary School. I reira au, ako ai te ngaiotanga o te kawenga kaiako – e mihi ana au ki āku kaihāpai i aua rā!
